10 Tips to Avoid Getting Frustrated during the Rainy Season

How do you go about your daily activities during the rainy season?

We all have different plans and tasks to achieve every day and it’s always quite relieving to achieve at least 50% of our daily goals.

To go about your normal day-to-day activities without getting frustrated or feeling miserable, you will have to make little changes to your lifestyle during the rainy season.

The rainy season has ways of disorganizing one’s plans and the last thing anyone wants is to get stuck on a rainy day, especially when you have something important to attend to.

Apart from being aware of the daily weather forecast, here are some of the tips to help you stay active during the rainy season.

1. Protect yourself from the rain

You can be taken unaware by the rain at any time of the day and so, you shouldn’t keep your umbrella or raincoat far from you. Even when you are lucky enough to take a shield, you can’t afford to be stuck there. For the ladies, a shower cap is an essential item that should be in your bag to protect your hair.

2. Stay away from white clothes

I wouldn’t advise you to slay in white outfits this season to avoid getting to your destination looking like you wore a rag. People could get the wrong impressions about you and it also has a way of affecting your confidence all day long.

Instead, opt-out for coloured clothes- they are easier to clean off when stained. Plus it can save you the embarrassment.

3. Have a spare rain-friendly shoe

Personally, I’ve lost many footwears while wading through floods and bad roads. The rain doesn’t have to cause you to always lose money to replace your shoes. You simply need to have spare footwear (slipper, sandals or shoes) that is rain-friendly of course. It is easier for ladies to carry a rubber sandal because of their bags than men.

Here is what you can do guy! Simply get one or two nice rain-friendly footwear at home and keep your work shoes at your office. Then show up at work early and change into your work shoe. Try this and thank me later *winks*

4. Leave for work earlier than usual

We all know how messy and rough the road usually is during the rainy season and this could cause longer hours of traffic. But you can beat the traffic and gain control of your day by leaving home earlier than usual, especially on a rainy day.

5. Cover your documents and mobile gadgets with water-proof materials

Protecting yourself is Important but properly covering your documents and gadgets is Importanter!!!

If your documents and gadgets are of any importance to you then you should devise a means to protect them from the rain to avoid stories that touch the heart.

6. Avoid roadside foods

If you don’t want the toilet or the hospital to be your closest friend this season then watch the commercial foods you eat. Hygiene should be your watchword to avoid rainy season common diseases like typhoid, dysentery, cholera, etc.

7. Get warm

Getting cold during this season is inevitable, and so you must get your sweater or any thick and warm outfit handy to manage the cold so you don’t fall sick.

8. Increase your Vitamin-C intake

It is inevitable to avoid falling sick during the rainy season as the immune system gets low. After being exposed to the diseases flying around, you should equip your body with substances that can support it in fighting illnesses like flu, cold, etc.

Vitamin C is an antioxidant that fights free radicals in the body and helps in boosting its immune system. There are several vitamin C drugs and supplements in pharmacies. It is also present in fresh fruits and vegetables.

9. Shine your eyes

This may sound funny but you won’t even find that laugh when you realize that you will have fallen victim to road side-pick pocket thieves or wrong vehicles AKA “One Chance”.

Therefore, it is important to stay mindful of your present environment, and also carefully observe the vehicle you want to enter to avoid being pitied. (I’ll discuss this topic in full in another blog post).

10. Use mosquito net

The regular downpour can cause pools of stagnant water around which can cause the breeding of mosquito and lead to a high chance of having malaria, and so you should use mosquito net alongside insecticides for effective protection against mosquito bites.

I hope you follow these tips to avoid getting frustrated on a rainy day.
